As I painted Sanctuary, I wasn't thinking about a physical place. I was thinking about the feeling of finally being able to exhale.

We spend so much of life searching for somewhere we belong, only to discover that true sanctuary often begins within ourselves.

The layers became softer as the painting evolved, creating spaces where the eye could rest. The gold remains understated, quietly reminding me that even in stillness there is light.

For me, Sanctuary is a place of acceptance—a reminder that peace doesn't have to be found; sometimes it only needs to be recognised.
